The dive
A colourful reef sloping and walling down to roughly 20 metres on Mabul's western side. The structure is the story: the wall is full of holes and small caverns backed by a network of tunnels, and lobsters hold the doorways. Dives typically start on the reef top and work gently down and along.
Residents
Nudibranchs in numbers, several pipefish species, peacock mantis shrimp, passing green turtles — and this is one of the sites where a flamboyant cuttlefish turns a good dive into a great one. The crevice-checking habit pays here more than anywhere else on the island.
Conditions and level
- Depth: reef top to ~20 m
- Current: can be the strongest on Mabul — when it runs, the dive becomes an easy drift along the wall
- Suits: all levels in calm conditions; drift experience helps on running days
